Want to see your home in the press?

Have you been involved in a house restoration or re-decoration project? Do you have a flair for colour or interior design? Or does your house frequently receive lovely comments from visitors?  If you can answer ‘yes’ to any of these questions then I would love to hear from you.

As an experienced freelance homes and history journalist, I’m looking for Kent based homeowners willing to be featured in national and regional magazines. So, if you fancy showing off all your hard work and would like to be considered for a forthcoming issue, please drop me a line at rachael@historymagpie.com and let me know why you think you home is special, where you are based and what you have done to it.  I’d also be grateful if you could send me 6 photos of your home (for example – Kitchen, sitting room, dining room, master bedroom, main bathroom, garden) to give me an idea of your style.

These details are then sent to my editor and, if they would like to feature your property, I will be in touch to arrange an interview.

The interview takes the form of an informal chat and I will ask you a few questions about how long you have lived in your house and what made you choose it before asking to be shown around.  As you show me each room, I’ll be asking you about your design and decorating decisions and taking a note of the tradesman you have used and your favourite places to shop for home and garden wares.  Once our chat is over I will need some extra time to take photographs of each room being highlighted.

The whole process can take up to three hours, depending upon which magazine I’m interviewing you for and, according to several past participants can be a lot of fun. Here are some  lovely things they have said about the process:
